Junior Chamber Music, Parent Organization

Junior Chamber Music (JCM) provides professional chamber music experience to talented young musicians (instrumentalists and vocalists, ages 9-20) in Southern California. The program started in 2003 under the belief that one of the most powerful ways to learn and experience music is through teamwork. The participants, chosen from annual auditions, are matched into small groups of two to five people according to their age, level and

location. The groups receive coachings from JCM’s roster of world-class musicians in the area and participate in various workshops, tours and concerts. Working in duos, trios, quartets, and quintets have timely benefits to the young performers that blossom in this type of intimate group setting. At a stage of life when peer influence is so powerful, chamber music provides the perfect opportunity for positive peer group dynamics, allowing a safe outlet for artistic exploration, creativity and expression. JCM connects young lives together based on the common interest of their love for music.

Concordia University (CUI)

Concordia University Irvine (CUI) prepares students for their vocations—their various callings in life. CUI offers undergraduate, graduate, and online bachelor's degrees in a beautiful Southern California location, with online and regional cohort options. Concordia’s undergraduate program is distinctive among universities in California because of its nationally recognized core curriculum, Enduring Questions & Ideas, and its Lutheran heritage that provides a thoughtful and caring Christian community that lives out the theology of "Grace Alone. Faith Alone."

At Concordia, music is more than a major—it is an integral part of the college experience for students in a variety of undergraduate studies. We use music to cultivate and articulate human thought in beautiful ways. We also use it as a valuable expression of faith, a gift of God to aid in the proclamation of the Gospel. Guided by a distinguished roster of music faculty, Concordia students may specialize in a variety of subject areas, including instrumental performance, music education, church music, and commercial music.

In 2017, Concordia will break ground on a new music facility. The Music, Worship, and Theology (MWT) building will offer state-of-the-art rehearsal and performance facilities and a full recording studio. Slated for completion in late 2018, the MWT facility will support Concordia music and the arts for years to come.

Concordia awards generous scholarships for music study, ensemble performance, and academic achievement.
